BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 1 – No. 19 William Carey used a five-run seventh inning to help down Blue Mountain Christian here Friday in Game 1, winning 7-1.
Carey got a two-run homer in the first from Dee Dee West against Topper starter Jacy Weaver.
Blue Mountain answered in the bottom of the frame with an RBI single by Lane Thaxton.
The two teams battled until the top of the seventh when the Crusaders got a couple RBI singles, a sac fly and a couple runs on fielder's choices.
Carey's Ryanne Hornsby was solid in the circle, picking up the complete-game win on just two hits, a run and five Ks.
Weaver (4-9) was saddled with the loss for BMCU, throwing a complete game, giving up six earned runs on 10 hits with eight Ks.
 
GAME 2
William Carey completed the two-game sweep in the backend event, winning 10-1 in five innings.
Both teams scored in first with Blue Mountain's Lane Thaxton singling in Mallory Jo Mitchell.
Carey exploded for four runs in the fifth to end it against Blue Mountain starter Kayla Reichardt, including an RBI double by Dee Dee West.
Reichardt suffered the loss for BMCU, going five innings, giving up nine earned runs on 12 hits with a K.
Haley Nations grabbed the win for Carey, tossing four innings, giving up a run on five hits with five Ks.
BMCU (13-15, 4-8 SSAC) returns to action next Friday in an SSAC doubleheader against Faulkner at 2 and 4 p.m.
