BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian Softball returned to action Tuesday, easily defeating an outclassed Southeastern Baptist team 10-0 in Game 1 of a doubleheader.
It only took five innings for the Toppers to take down the Chargers, getting seven runs in the first inning and a complete game victory from
Brianna Langley who didn't allow a run and had two Ks against three hits.
The opening frame was highlighted by an RBI single by Langley and a two-run double by
Julianna Ingram, followed up by RBI singles from
Destiny Dill,
Lane Thaxton and
Sam Whitwell in the third inning.
Langley, Whitwell and Ingram all had two hits each to lead the Toppers at the plate.
GAME 2
The Toppers threw on the mercy rule again in the second contest, highlighted by a third-inning grand slam by
Brianna Langley to give BMCU a 14-0 victory.
Blue Mountain exploded for eight runs in the third, while getting a combined two-hitter from
Jacy Weaver and
Kayla Reichardt.
Weaver picked up the win with three innings pitched and two Ks, while Reichardt tossed two innings and struck out three.
The Toppers got RBI doubles from
Mallory Jo Mitchell and
Lane Thaxton in the first and RBI singles in the second and third innings from
Tyra Yahola,
Destiny Dill and
Julianna Ingram.
Blue Mountain's final run came in the bottom of the fourth on a sac fly by
Jaci White.
Evi Edwards finished with three hits for BMCU, while Yahola, Dill and Mitchell had two hits apiece in the victory.
BMCU (13-11, 4-4 SSAC) returns to action Friday at home against No. 1 Mobile in SSAC action at 2 and 4 p.m. CT.
