Saturday split gives Middle Ga. St. series over Blue Mountain

COCHRAN, Ga. – GAME 2 – (RV) Blue Mountain Christian rebounded from Friday's SSAC loss to Middle Ga. St., winning Game 2 by a score of 6-5 to even the series 1-1.
The Toppers were down for most of the game but plated four runs in the top of the seventh to get the victory.
The Knights got two runs in the first frame against Topper starter Matthew Koch, but the Toppers answered in the fourth with a two-run homer by Easton Rainer.
MGA plated two of their own in the fourth to lead 4-2.
The Toppers finally got to MGA hurler Caleb Lanoux in the seventh, getting a run on an error, a two-run single by Alex Frillman and an RBI single by Hayden Arant.
The Knights would get a run in the seventh, but reliever Will Long would hold on to close the doors for Blue Mountain to get the save.
Cole Giordano would get the pitching win for BMCU in relief, tossing an inning, while Koch wouldn't get a decision going five innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits with four Ks.
Gavin Coles, Chris Hoing and Reiley Tate all had two hits apiece in the win for Blue Mountain.

GAME 3
Middle Georgia State secured the series in the third game with Blue Mountain, winning 12-5.
A seven-run seventh inning for the Knights would spell disaster for the Toppers, which was highlighted by a three-run homer by Derick Stager and a two-run single by Ryan Wilson.
The Toppers got a solo homer from Alex Frillman in the fourth and three in the fifth on a wild pitch, a sac fly from Frillman and an RBI single from Austin Beech to make it 4-4 at that point.
Another tie occurred in the sixth when Blue Mountain's Reiley Tate singled in Easton Rainer.
That would set the stage for Middle Georgia's big inning in the seventh.
Jake Reeder would suffer the loss on the hill for Blue Mountain in relief, going 1.1 innings, giving up three earned runs on three hits with a K.
Taylor Sipes started for the Toppers, going five innings, giving up five earned runs on six hits with three Ks.
Beech would collect three hits in the loss, while Frillman and Rainer both had two hits apiece for the Toppers.
BMCU (19-9, 4-5 SSAC) return to action Tuesday against Freed-Hardeman in non-conference play in a nine-inning affair in Henderson, Tenn. with first pitch set for 5 p.m. CT.
