COCHRAN, Ga. – GAME 1 – No. 22 Middle Georgia State picked up a pair of wins over Blue Mountain Christian here Saturday, starting with a Game 1 victory of 5 -3.
Middle Georgia's big inning came in the third when they plated four runs, capped by an RBI triple by Emma Raulerson and three unearned runs on the Topper defense.
Blue Mountain would get a three-run homer from
Lane Thaxton in the top of the sixth, but her team couldn't plate any more to catch up.
Thaxton led her team at the plate, getting two hits in the loss, while
Harley Mullins suffered the pitching loss, going 3.1 innings, giving up one earned run on six hits with a K.
Beth Eddins picked up her seventh win of the season in the circle for the Knights, tossing a complete game against six hits five Ks.
GAME 2
Middle Georgia State picked up the backend clash to sweep the set, this time winning 5-2.
The Blue Mountain offense was held in check until the seventh inning when they got two runs on a
Mallory Jo Mitchell double, but the Knight damage has been done.
Logan Blizzard would blast a two-run shot in the first off BMCU starter
Jacy Weaver, and later rip an RBI double in the fifth.
Morgan Windham would also homer for the Knights, a solo shot in the fifth.
Weaver suffered the loss, going 5.1 innings, giving up three earned runs on seven hits, while Madisyn Riggins got the win for MGA, tossing a complete game, giving up two runs on six hits with five Ks.
Mitchell and
Evi Edwards would both have two hits apiece in the loss for BMCU.
BMCU (9-7, 2-2 SSAC) returns to action Tuesday in a doubleheader against Bethel (Tenn.) in Mackenzie, Tenn. at 4 and 6 p.m. CT.
