BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Blue Mountain Christian couldn't complete a comeback against Faulkner in SSAC play Saturday, dropping the conference tilt 72-67.
Faulkner's Victor Munoz controlled the action by turning in a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
The Toppers would get an 18-point game out of
Trae Jones who came off the bench, while
Manny Patrick turned in another solid effort with 13 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Ty Pickron would also go on to score 10 points for Blue Mountain in the loss.
Blue Mountain looked like they just couldn't get anything going but found themselves in the game late.
Jones would pull the Toppers to withing 68-64 with just 51 second left to go, swiping a steal and scoring on a layup.
The Eagles would hit 14 free-throws down the stretch to secure the SSAC win.
Faulkner had a big advantage in rebound, grabbing 40 to Blue Mountain's 26.
The Eagles would shoot 40 percent from the field with Blue Mountain shooting 36. The Toppers couldn't buy a three, going just 4-of-24 from deep.
BMCU (7-7, 1-5 SSAC) is now on a two-game skid and travels to Point University (Ga.) Thursday for an SSAC matchup set for 7:30 p.m. CT in West Point.
