BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Stillman Women used a second-half surge to down Blue Mountain Christian here Saturday in SSAC play, winning 65-46.
The Lady Toppers controlled all the first half, taking a 29-24 lead into the break.
Blue Mountain looked tough in the opening quarter, jumping out to a 9-5 lead on baskets from
Rebecca Walter and
Crystin Guy.
The Tigers would run out to a 6-0 run in the third quarter, giving them their second and lasting lead of the game at 32-29.
Stillman would get a 15-point game from Alexandra Haymon, including four rebounds to lead the Tigers.
Farrah Pearson contributed with 14 points and nine board, while Jamariah Turner chipped in 10 points for the Tigers.
Blue Mountain would get 10 points from its leading scorer Brooks, while
Alexis Wynn would have eight points and five boards in the losing effort for Blue Mountain, while
Rebecca Walter chipped in seven points and six boards.
Blue Mountain would have to limp to the finish line, as Guy and
Genise Dabbs both had to come out of the game with injuries.
The loss puts Blue Mountain (1-7, 0-2 SSAC) on a six-game skid as they will look to break it next Saturday as they host NCAA DII Lane College in Blue Mountain at 5:30 p.m. CT.
