FULTON, Mo. – A cold night shooting for Blue Mountain Christian Women led to a 58-40 non-conference loss here Thursday night to William Woods.
The Lady Toppers had trouble finding the bucket in the first quarter, going just 4-for-16 from the field with eight points.
Blue Mountain's shooting improved in the second but they would find themselves down 32-22 at the break, as
Rebecca Walter led in scoring with seven points.
The whistles were liberal in the first half, as Blue Mountain would be called for 11 personal fouls.
An 11-2 run to open the third quarter was all the Owls would need to sink the Lady Toppers.
WWU's Jersee Wren led all scorers with 14 points, while
Charnita Brooks led Blue Mountain with 11 points and seven rebounds. Walter would finish with nine points for the Toppers.
The Lady Toppers would shoot just a bit over 27 percent including just 2-for-20 from three-point land, while the Owls would shoot 38 percent and 6-of-22 from deep.
The Owl's would get 12 second-chance points in the victory, while getting 21 points from its bench.
BMCU (1-3) returns to action Saturday, November 18 in SSAC play as they travel to Marietta, Ga. to take on Life University at 12 p.m. CT.
