TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Blue Mountain Christian Women's Volleyball claimed its second straight SSAC regular-season title here Friday night in a blowout sweep of SSAC foe Stillman 3-0 (25-9, 25-8, 25-11).
It's also the Toppers' 18
th straight win of the season, along with the 35
th straight SSAC victory including tournament wins. The title also guarantees the Volley Toppers a slot in the NAIA Opening Round Tournament November 18.
"I'm very proud of our ladies and all they have accomplished this season," BMCU head coach
Reid Gann said after the match. "They have worked extremely hard to get to this point and bring home another championship to Blue Mountain."
Friday's match was never in question as Blue Mountain dominated in every aspect.
Randi Crandall led with nine kills at .750, while
Gigi Sasso added eight kills at .429 and
Olivia Ashton had seven kills at .636.
The Toppers would have an incredible 18 service aces in the match with
Reanna Brown leading with five. Brown would also lead in assists with 15. Sasso and
Kora Wilson added four aces each, and
Kerianna Collins had three with
Michaela Frederick chipping in two.
As a team, the Volley Toppers blasted 38 kills at a .548 clip on the Tiger defense.
"We still have a big game tomorrow in Mobile, so we want to finish strong," Gann said. "After that, we're looking forward to jumping into the conference tournament."
BMCU (20-1, 14-0 SSAC) will look to complete a perfect SSAC record on the season as they head to Mobile, Ala. Saturday to round out the regular-season schedule with first serve set for 1 p.m. CT.
