DALTON, Ga. – Blue Mountain Christian men fell to Dalton State here Thursday to open the 2023-24 SSAC schedule, losing 73-59.
The glaring statistic in the game was Dalton's control of the boards, outrebounding the Toppers 47-33, including 14 offensive boards.
With a 41-29 lead going into the second half, the Roadrunners would pull out to a 48-33 lead early in the second half thanks to consecutive buckets from Donavan Miller.
Blue Mountain would make it respectable later in the half, getting five points in less than a minute from
Manny Patrick and five points from
Dylan Woods in 30 seconds, with both draining three-point buckets.
Patrick would lead in scoring for Blue Mountain with 16 points and nine rebounds, followed by
Ty Pickron with 13 points and seven boards.
Carterius Evan led Dalton State with 12 points, while Qualen Pettus and Kawasiki Ricks each had 10 points apiece.
Another glaring statistic in the matchup was 41 points from the Dalton State bench to Blue Mountain's 16. The Roadrunners also dominated the paint offensively with 46 of their points coming there.
BMCU (4-3, 0-1 SSAC) returns to SSAC action Saturday as they travel to Marietta, Ga. to take on Life University with tip set for 2 p.m. CT.
