MARIETTA, Ga. – SSAC newcomer Life University pitched a shutout here Saturday in SSAC action over Blue Mountain Women, winning 5-0.
The Running Eagles didn't waste any time, jumping up 1-0 on a goal at the 1:16 mark of the first by Sacha Millward on an assist by Anakah Madril.
Life's next goal came just seven minutes later on a penalty kick score from Madril, giving her a quick brace.
At 26:19 of the first, Life would go up 3-0 before the half on a goal from Lija Bjorg Olafsdottir.
In the second, the Running Eagles' Millward and Madril hooked up again on a score at 55:52, giving Millward a brace and making it 4-0.
At 65:17, Olafsdottir gave Life a 5-0 lead when she put one in the back of the net off an assist from Lottie Turner.
The Toppers would get off eight shots on goal in the match, but Life keeper Grace Staunton kept them off the board with three saves for the clean sheet.
Topper keeper Caitlyn Fox played all 90 minutes, with five getting away and nine saves.
BMCU (3-8-1, 1-4 SSAC) kicks off a three-game SSAC home stand starting Thursday, Oct. 12 against Brewton-Parker at 1 p.m. at Topper Pitch.
