Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late goal gives Toppers draw with No. 25 Life

MARIETTA, Ga. – For the second game in a row, Blue Mountain Christian Men came up with late-game heroics, this time settling for a 1-1 draw with No. 25 Life University.
In the first half, the teams battled to a 0-0 draw with both having several opportunities.
Life would get off 10 shots to Blue Mountain's five as both keepers, Alvaro Lopez for BMCU and Branko Kanacki for Life, both had a save apiece.
Life would finally put a number on the scoreboard in the second half at the 58:25 mark when Stephane Shongo slid one past Lopez from 20 feet off a dual assist from Nipho Methula and Bruno Sperandio to give the Running Eagles the 1-0 lead.
With 17 seconds left in the match, Blue Mountain's Matias Cisterna found the rebound off Life keeper reserve Brian Sullivan to score the game-tying goal at 1-1.
Both teams would get five shots on goal on the evening, with Life taking 20 shots and BMCU taking 11.
Lopez finished with four saves for the Toppers between the sticks.
In the most recent games against three Top 25 teams, Blue Mountain has only allowed four goals, evidence improvement is occurring for the Toppers.
BMCU (3-5-2, 1-2-2) begins a three-game SSAC home stand starting Oct. 12 against Brewton-Parker at 3:30 p.m. CT at Topper Pitch.
