BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – (RV) Blue Mountain Christian won its 17
th straight game here Saturday on Senior Day, overwhelming state rival and SSAC foe William Carey 3-0 (25-16, 25-8, 25-19).
The win also gave the Volley Toppers a perfect 8-0 home record for the year, with its final two games on the road.
The Toppers got a big day from
Gigi Sasso, as she collected a double-double with 14 kills and 10 digs while hitting .355.
Katie Rutland swatted nine kills at an incredible .692, while
Randi Crandall and
Olivia Ashton came up with three assisted blocks apiece, with Ashton also collecting a solo.
Reanna Brown handed out 15 assists in the 6-2 rotation with two aces, and
Kora Wilson knocked down four service aces of her own.
Jaiyah Jackson once again provided the speed on defense for the Toppers, running down 10 digs in the victory.
"We got started kind of slow today, but we picked it up and played well after the first few point," BMCU head coach
Reid Gann said. "We're still hitting the ball well and our setters are putting it where it needs to be. This is a great win against a very solid William Carey team."
BMCU (19-1, 13-0 SSAC) now turns its attention to Stillman Friday, Nov. 3 in Tuscaloosa at 6 p.m. CT. A victory for the Toppers will give them the SSAC regular-season crown for the second straight year.
