CBC gets best of Toppers to open season

CONWAY, Ark. – Blue Mountain Christian Men fell 86-68 to Central Baptist Saturday to open the 2023-24 season.
The Toppers opened up the first half well, as Kevin Etienne would have 11 points as the Toppers took a 37-36 lead into the break.
Central Baptist would heat up on their home court in the second, as Ike Moore would come off the bench to provide 10 points to spur his team.
The Mustangs helped themselves tremendously shooting from the outside, as they would hit 11-of-22 from the three-point arc.  CBC would also go on to shoot 57 percent from the field.
The Toppers struggled from deep, going just 5-of-25 on the day behind the three-point line.
Etienne would lead Blue Mountain with 18 points while Leo Lin chipped in 15.
The Mustangs would see five players in double figures, with Sage Borbon leading with 14 points.
"We let them get too many looks at the bucket in the second half," BMCU head coach Jermael Bingham said.  "We hit a dry spell and couldn't get anything to fall.  We'll get back to work and continue to get better."
BMCU will head to Holly Springs, Miss. Monday to take on in-state foe Rust College with tip set for 6 p.m. CT.
