MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Faulkner Lady Eagles would get a late, second-half goal to top Blue Mountain Christian Women her Saturday night while also getting an SSAC shutout 1-0.
Very little offensive action occurred in the first half, as Blue Mountain would get two shots on goal
Paula Garrido but couldn't find the net.
Blue Mountain would get a few looks at the net in the second half, but it was Faulkner who would get the goal at 73:51 when Aisnley Lockwood scored on an assist from Ashlei Bryant to give their team the conference victory.
Annabel Trauschke would get off a header near the goal late to try and tie it, but would be cut down by Faulkner keeper K. Cardeiro Carmona.
The Toppers would get nine shots on goal off to Faulkner's six, and
Flavie Sallaz filled in for injured
Caitlyn Fox at keeper and did a solid job by notching four saves in five tries.
Blue Mountain would also get off 19 shots to Faulkner's 10 despite the loss.
BMCU (5-10-1, 3-6 SSAC) plays its final regular season match Saturday, Oct. 28 against Dalton St. in Blue Mountain with start time slated for 1 p.m. CT.
