BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – BMCU head coach
Reid Gann picked up his 100
th career victory here Friday in a lopsided SSAC 3-0 sweep of UT-Southern.
The victory was the fastest of any coach at BMCU in modern history, taking him less than five seasons to accomplish the feat.
"I'm very proud of our players and their accomplishments to get to this point," Gann said. "We've had some very talented players come through this program in a short amount of time, and each one has had a hand in this. I'm thankful for each one of them."
In tonight's match, the Toppers dominated the Firehawks, with
Rae Ann Hall leading the way with 11 kills at a .733 clip while
Olivia Ashton blasted 10 kills at a .417 clip.
Reanna Brown had 21 assists in the 6-2 and her counterpart
Michaela Frederick dished out 12 for the Toppers. Brown would also have five service aces in the win.
Ashton would also have three assisted blocks and a solo on defense, with
Randi Crandall and
A'Dasia Porter claiming two assisted blocks each.
Jaiyah Jackson ran down 16 digs for the Toppers on defense, while
Kerianna Collins had two service aces.
The victory runs the Toppers' win streak to 15 and SSAC win streak to 32 straight games.
BMCU (17-1, 11-0 SSAC) returns to SSAC action Friday, October 27 as they host Loyola in Blue Mountain with first serve set for 6 p.m. CT.
