Matt Brunet, an assistant softball coach at Union University for eight years, is in his first year as head coach. While coaching at Union, Brunet provided leadership for team defense, hitting, base running, conditioning and spiritual development. During his tenure, Union made four Gulf South Conference Tournament appearances (including their first ever tournament win), won two NCCAA Regional Championships and one NCCAA National Championship.
Brunet played high school baseball at Southfield Christian High School in Southfield, Mich. and college baseball at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Ind.
In addition to his role as Assistant Softball Coach at Union, Brunet served as strength and conditioning coach and professor of sport management. He was the head softball coach at Trinity Christian Academy in Jackson, Tenn. for two years and served two years as assistant strength and conditioning coach at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI.
Brunet has a master’s degree in sport management from Wayne State University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Union University.
Brunet’s mission is to glorify God by pursuing excellence on and off the field and making a positive impact in the lives of players. His life verse is, “So, whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus” - Colossians 3:17.
He is married to Marie (19 years) and they have four children, Maddox (14), Madelyn (11), Maverick (4) and Macklin (3).
