Cuthbert, Ga.- Blue Mountain Christian University women's soccer opened Southern States Athletic Conference play in commanding fashion Thursday, using an explosive seven-goal first half to roll past Andrew College 8-0 for its first victory of the season.
Daniella Nieto led the offensive charge with a hat trick and an assist as the Toppers improved to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in SSAC play.
BMCU wasted little time taking control of the match. Nieto opened the scoring just 2:30 into the contest off an assist from Nayelli Aguayo before finding the back of the net again only 33 seconds later.
The pressure continued almost immediately. 
Aguayo joined the scoring at the 4:10 mark off an assist from Alba Hernandez, giving the Toppers three goals in the opening 4:10.
Madison McGillivray added to the advantage in the seventh minute before Duda Koespel converted Aguayo's second assist of the match at 11:54 to make it 5-0.
Taylor Duggar pushed the lead to six in the 20th minute, and Nieto completed her hat trick at 23:26 to give BMCU a commanding 7-0 advantage less than 24 minutes into the match.
The Toppers carried the seven-goal advantage into halftime and continued to control the match after the break.
Andrew College registered its lone shot on goal in the 54th minute, but Kiana Gordon was there to make the save and preserve the clean sheet.
BMCU added its final goal five minutes later when Hernandez found the back of the net off an assist from Nieto, bringing the advantage to 8-0.
The Toppers continued creating opportunities down the stretch, with Koespel hitting the crossbar and Hernandez striking the post in the final 10 minutes.
BMCU controlled the match offensively, outshooting Andrew College 23-1 while placing 17 attempts on goal. 
Seven different Toppers found the back of the net in the victory.
Nieto paced the attack with six shots, five on goal, three goals and an assist. 
Aguayo finished with a goal and two assists, while Hernandez added a goal and an assist.
The Topper defense was equally impressive, holding Andrew College to just one shot over the 90 minutes. Gordon made the lone save as BMCU secured its first clean sheet of the season.
With the victory, Blue Mountain Christian improves to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in SSAC play.
