Box Score McKenzie, Tenn.- The Blue Mountain Christian softball team turned in a dominant performance Tuesday, sweeping Bethel (Tenn.) in a midweek road doubleheader with convincing 11-1 and 12-0 victories in McKenzie, Tennessee.
In game one, the Toppers set the tone early, scoring in each of the first three innings to build control of the game.
Maryn Macri drew a bases-loaded walk in the first to score
Anna Harrison before BMCU added three more runs in the second inning, highlighted by an RBI walk from
Mikaylah Fuqua and an RBI sacrifice fly from
Aspen Teague.
Blue Mountain Christian continued to apply pressure throughout the game.
Rachel Rommel drove in a run in the third, while Macri added another RBI in the fourth.
The Toppers created further separation in the sixth and seventh innings, adding five more runs. Fuqua delivered an RBI double, while
Lakyn Nichols and Macri each drove in runs as BMCU secured the run-rule victory.
The Toppers finished with 12 hits in the opener. Fuqua led the offense going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Anna Harrison scored four runs and collected two hits, while Nichols finished with two hits and two RBIs. Rommel also added two hits and an RBI.
Madison Montgomery earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete game while allowing just one run on six hits and striking out five.
Game two saw more of the same from the Toppers, who erupted for eight runs in the second inning to take full control.
Nichols started the scoring with a two-RBI triple before
Bre Ramsey followed with an RBI double.
Teague added an RBI single before
Kelsey Camp delivered the biggest swing of the game with a four-RBI home run to extend the lead to 8-0.
Blue Mountain Christian added three more runs in the third, including a two-RBI play from Harrison, before adding their final run in the fifth on an RBI single by
Morgan Dupree.
Camp led the offense in game two with a perfect 3-for-3 performance, driving in four runs and scoring twice.
Nichols added two hits and two RBIs, while Ramsey finished with two hits and two runs scored.
Neely Cooper earned the win in the circle, throwing three scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
Janna Shaw closed out the game with two scoreless innings to complete the shutout.
The Toppers will look to carry the momentum from the midweek sweep into their next matchup.
