Toppers battle throughout senior day series against ABAC

Blue Mountain, Miss.- On a day centered around honoring its seniors, the Blue Mountain Christian baseball team competed across all three games but ultimately fell in the series to ABAC, closing the weekend with a 6-1 result in Saturday's finale.
The series opened with one of the most competitive games of the season, as the Toppers narrowly came up short in an 12-11 contest that saw both offenses trade blows throughout. Abraham Baldwin gained more separation in Game 2 with an 8-2 decision before Saturday's finale.
In Game 3, Blue Mountain Christian struck first and showed early energy.
In the third inning, Reise Thomas delivered an RBI double down the left field line to score Ethan Hirons and give the Toppers a 1-0 lead.
The Stallions answered in the fourth to even the game before a solo home run in the sixth gave the visitors a narrow 2-1 advantage.
The Toppers remained within striking distance deep into the game, but a late push in the ninth inning extended the lead, as ABAC capitalized on an opportunity and added four runs to create the final margin.
Offensively, the Toppers produced 10 hits, with Jake Meilstrup leading the way with a four-hit performance.
Thomas added two hits and the team's lone RBI, while Jarrett Morris, Gavin Foley, Trace Roy, and Cody Presley each contributed at the plate.
On the mound, Benji Webb delivered a strong and steady outing, working 8.1 innings and striking out nine while keeping the Toppers within reach for much of the game.
Jack Hearn finished the final outs in relief.
Though the results did not fall their way, the Toppers showed fight across the weekend, highlighted by a tightly contested opener and a Senior Day performance that reflected the group's effort and competitiveness.
