Neely Coopers win SSAC Softball Player of the Week 2026

Cooper named SSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week after no-hitter performance

Montgomery, Ala.- Blue Mountain Christian's Neely Cooper has been named the SSAC Softball Pitcher of the Week after her dominant no-hit performance against Thomas University.
Cooper was outstanding in the circle, throwing five hitless innings while allowing just one walk and striking out five batters to earn the win and improve to 5-1 on the season.
She faced only 19 batters and needed just 70 pitches to complete the no-hitter, while also recording 10 groundouts to keep Thomas from finding any offensive rhythm.
Her command and confidence were evident throughout the game as she worked efficiently, limiting baserunners and trusting her defense to finish plays behind her.
Blue Mountain Christian Head Coach Matt Brunet emphasized Cooper's character and importance to the program when speaking about her recognition.
"Nobody deserves this honor more than Neely Cooper. She has been the ultimate team player over the past two years. Her teammates love her and trust her in big moments. She loves to compete and thrives when pressure is on. We are very proud of her and honored that she pitches for BMCU."
Cooper's honor highlights another strong performance from the Toppers as they continue conference play, with her efforts providing a major boost to Blue Mountain Christian's pitching staff.
