Cooper throws no-hitter as Toppers sweep Thomas in SSAC doubleheader

Thomasville, Ga.- The Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers softball team turned in a strong day in conference play Saturday, sweeping an SSAC doubleheader against the Thomas Nighthawks in Thomasville, Georgia. 
The day was highlighted by a dominant no-hit performance from Neely Cooper in game two, while Anna Harrison also made program history during the doubleheader.
BMCU opened the day with a 12-3 victory in game one behind an explosive offensive showing. The Toppers collected 17 hits and scored in five different innings to secure the win.
Kelsey Camp put BMCU on the board early with an RBI double in the first inning. 
The Toppers created separation in the second inning when Aspen Teague delivered a three-run triple to cap a four-run frame. 
Blue Mountain Christian continued to add to its lead with RBIs from Rachel Rommel, Maryn Macri, Lakyn Nichols, Teague, and Camp.
Teague led the Toppers with three hits including a triple and two RBIs.
Camp also collected three hits and drove in two runs, while Macri added two hits and two RBIs. Harrison scored three runs for BMCU, contributing to a record-breaking day, while Mikaylah Fuqua and Bre Ramsey also helped spark the offense.
Madison Montgomery earned the win in the circle, throwing a complete five-inning game while allowing three runs on four hits.
The momentum carried into game two where Cooper delivered one of the most dominant performances of the season, throwing a five-inning no-hitter in an 8-0 run-rule victory. Cooper was in command throughout, striking out five and allowing just one walk while inducing 10 groundouts.
Blue Mountain Christian jumped ahead early with a five-run first inning. 
Harrison scored the first run of game two, marking her 41st run scored of the season and setting a new BMCU single-season program record. 
Fuqua led BMCU with two hits and two runs scored, while Teague added two hits and an RBI. Camp and Neely Barrier also drove in runs for the Toppers.
With the sweep, Blue Mountain Christian continues SSAC play looking to build on the strong conference performance.
