Thomasville, Ga.- The Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers wrapped up their SSAC series against the Thomas Nighthawks on Saturday, falling 13-2 in the final game of the series.
Thomas built an early lead in the second inning, scoring four runs before erupting for five more in the third.
The Nighthawks added another run in the fourth to stretch their advantage.
The Toppers broke through in the fifth inning when
Cody Presley drove a single through the left side to score
Gavin Foley and put BMCU on the board.
Blue Mountain Christian added another run in the sixth as
Jake Meilstrup delivered an RBI single to center field to bring home
Jarrett Morris.
Presley and Meilstrup each recorded RBIs to lead the Toppers offensively, while
Jacob Bryant and Foley helped create opportunities on the bases.
Benji Webb took the loss on the mound for BMCU after tossing 2.1 innings with one strikeout.
Christian Maness followed in relief, while
Chip Harris added two strikeouts in his inning of work.
Judson Griffin and
Jesse Hancock also appeared in relief, with Hancock turning in a scoreless frame and recording a strikeout.
Blue Mountain Christian will look to bounce back as the Toppers prepare for their next conference matchup.
