Montgomery, Ala.- Blue Mountain Christian's Abbi Williams has been named the SSAC Volleyball Defender of the Week for the second time this season, the Southern States Athletic Conference announced Monday.
Williams continued her strong defensive season for the Volley Toppers, totaling 37 digs across seven sets for an average of 5.28 digs per set over the weekend.
Her best performance came Friday night against William Carey, as Williams anchored the BMCU defense with 26 digs across four sets, averaging 6.50 digs per set in the match.
"Abbi continues to be such a steady presence for us defensively," BMCU head coach Sara Eason said. "She has a great ability to read the game and put herself in the right position, and our team has a lot of confidence in her because of that. Her consistency has been so important for us this season, and I'm proud to see her recognized again."
The honor marks Williams' second SSAC Defender of the Week award of the season.
