Montgomery, Ala.- Blue Mountain Christian senior Marissa Gerleman has been named the SSAC Volleyball Attacker of the Week, the Southern States Athletic Conference announced Monday.
Gerleman put together a strong offensive weekend for the Volley Toppers, totaling 26 kills while hitting .429 across two matches.
She finished with double-digit kills in both contests and totaled 30 points on the weekend.
The Adel, Iowa native also made an impact at the net defensively, recording eight block assists over the two matches.
"Marissa had a great weekend for us and really stepped up when we needed her," BMCU head coach Sara Eason said. "As one of our captains, she has been a great leader for this team, and she leads by example with the way she competes and carries herself. Her efficiency offensively and her presence at the net were big for us this weekend, and I'm proud to see her recognized for it."
The weekly honor recognizes Gerleman's performance as the Volley Toppers continue through their SSAC schedule on the road this weekend.
