Montgomery, Ala.- Blue Mountain Christian University freshman
Brenyn Wilbanks has been named the SSAC Setter of the Week following an impressive week of play that helped the Volley Toppers secure a pair of conference victories.
Wilbanks, a native of Corinth, Miss., played an important role in BMCU's undefeated week, helping lead the Toppers to wins over Brewton-Parker Christian University and Wesleyan College.
Operating in a 6-2 offensive rotation, Wilbanks recorded 34 assists across six sets, averaging 5.67 assists per set. Her ability to distribute the ball and facilitate the offense helped the Volley Toppers find success in both conference matchups.
For Wilbanks, the recognition marks an exciting accomplishment early in her collegiate career as she continues to establish herself as a key contributor to the Blue Mountain Christian offense.
Head coach
Sara Eason expressed her excitement about Wilbanks receiving the conference recognition.
"We're extremely proud of Brenyn for earning Setter of the Week honors," Eason said. "To receive this recognition as a freshman is a great accomplishment and a reflection of the hard work she's put in since arriving on campus. She's embraced her role in our offense and continues to gain confidence with every match. It's exciting to see her efforts recognized at the conference level, and I believe this is just the beginning of what she can accomplish here at Blue Mountain."
Wilbanks' recognition adds another individual conference honor for the Volley Toppers as they continue their SSAC schedule.
