Blue Mountain, Miss.- Blue Mountain Christian University volleyball delivered a strong performance Saturday morning inside Tyler Gymnasium, earning a straight-set victory over Brewton-Parker Christian in SSAC action.
The Volley Toppers controlled the match from the opening serve, claiming the victory by scores of 25-10, 25-15, and 25-23.
Blue Mountain Christian established its rhythm early, putting together an impressive offensive performance in the opening set.
The Volley Toppers recorded eight kills on just 12 attempts with one error, producing a remarkable .583 hitting percentage to take the first set 25-10.
The momentum continued into the second set as BMCU maintained its offensive efficiency, recording 12 kills while committing only two errors for a .385 hitting percentage.
The Volley Toppers secured the second set 25-15 to take a commanding two-set advantage.
Brewton-Parker Christian provided a stronger challenge in the third set, but Blue Mountain Christian held its ground to secure a 25-23 victory and complete the conference sweep.
Marissa Gerleman led the Volley Toppers offensively with eight kills, while
Mattie Hopper followed closely with seven kills and a team-high three blocks.
Salice Speed contributed five kills and delivered an outstanding performance from the service line, recording five aces to help fuel the BMCU offense.
Defensively,
Abbi Williams anchored the back row with a match-high 14 digs while adding three service aces.
Speed also contributed nine digs, providing a strong all-around performance for the Volley Toppers.
Brenyn Wilbanks directed the offense with a team-high 14 assists while adding five digs.
Sydney Tague chipped in six assists, and
Olivia Domino contributed four.
As a team, Blue Mountain Christian finished with a .323 hitting percentage, recording 29 kills against just eight attacking errors.
The Volley Toppers also held a 10-6 advantage in service aces and a 38-27 edge in digs.
The victory marked an important conference result for BMCU as the Volley Toppers continue their SSAC schedule.
