Mount Vernon, Ga- Blue Mountain Christian Women's Soccer picked up a point on the road Thursday evening, battling Brewton-Parker to a 1-1 draw in SSAC action.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Toppers broke through in the 54th minute.
Nayelli Aguayo found the back of the net at the 53:51 mark to give BMCU a 1-0 advantage.
Aguayo was a consistent threat for the Topper attack throughout the match, finishing with five shots and putting all five on frame.
BMCU continued to apply pressure following the goal, creating several opportunities to add to its lead.
Brewton-Parker eventually found the equalizer in the 73rd minute when Daria Cwynar scored to level the match at 1-1.
The Toppers pushed for a late go-ahead goal but were unable to break the deadlock before the final whistle.
BMCU finished the match with 13 shots, placing 12 on goal.
Daniela Vazquez Nieto added three shots with two on frame, while
Alba Luque Hernandez and
Maria Eduarda Koespel each put two shots on goal.
Taylor Duggar also recorded a shot on target.
Kiana Gordon started in goal for BMCU and made two saves before leaving the match due to injury in the 54th minute.
Krisslyn Boyles stepped into goal for the remainder of the contest, recording one save across the final 36:47.
BMCU will be back on the pitch, Saturday, against Thomas University.
