Blue Mountain, Miss.- On Monday afternoon, the Toppers put together a strong performance but fell just short in the second half against the Louisiana Christian Wildcats.
In the opening period, momentum swung in BMCU's favor as the Toppers fired five shots on goal, with a couple narrowly missing the back of the net. Defensively, the Toppers stood tall, holding the Wildcats without a single shot attempt in the half.
Both sides entered the break locked in a 0-0 tie, but the Wildcats broke through in the 65th minute after drawing a penalty kick, converting it for the lone goal of the match.
Despite pressing late and keeping the Wildcats on edge, the Toppers were unable to find the equalizer.
BMCU will look to bounce back on the road Friday when they face LSU Alexandria at 3:30 p.m.
