CORINTH, Miss. – GAME 1 – Blue Mountain Christian and Brewton-Parker met here for SSAC early-week action today.
BMCU would get Game 1 in eight innings, with a walk-off error from the Barons, winning 3-2.
The Barons would put a run on the board in the first on a sac-fly by Hailey Gabrich, but the Toppers'
Maryn Macri answered with an RBI to left that scored
Bre Ramsey who tripled earlier.
Macri struck again in the bottom of the third, belting an RBI triple to left center that scored Ramsey.
Brewton would get an unearned run in the fifth to tie it at 2-2, but Camp's triple to left center was followed by a Baron error that allowed her to score, giving the Toppers the win.
Macri and Camp both had two hits for the Toppers, with Macri knocking in two.
Madison Montgomery (7-6) would get the victory in relief of
Neely Cooper, as she tossed two innings to get the win.
GAME 2
Blue Mountain would complete the sweep, winning Game 2 with another walk-off, taking the backend tilt 9-8.
The Toppers exploded for six runs in the opening frame, as
Bre Ramsey doubled in a run and later scored, followed by an RBI single from
Kelsey Camp. Camp would later come around to score on a passed ball, as did
Courtney Richardson.
The Barons would rally for three runs, but BMCU answered with an RBI single by
Iris Farve to score Ramsey.
Brewton-Parker would string together five runs across the fifth and sixth innings, highlight by a two-run double from Abbie Flowers to take an 8-7 lead.
In the seventh, Blue Mountain would get an RBI double from
Skylar Lee to tie the game at 8-8.
The Toppers would win it on a squeeze bunt by
Shante Beaulieu that scored Lee.
Ramsey, Farve and M.J. Mitchell all had two hits each for Blue Mountain.
Neely Cooper (4-5) returned the favor, as she picked up the pitching win in relief of
Madison Montgomery, tossing two innings with two Ks.
BMCU (20-16, 8-10 SSAC) returns to action Saturday against Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala. at 1 & 3 p.m. CT.
