BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Blue Mountain Christian and former SSAC foe Bethel (Tenn.) matched up here Tuesday for a midweek tilt, as the Toppers dropped the contest 11-5, snapping a five-game win streak.
The Toppers struck first in the opening frame with
Chris Smith knocking in
Hayden Redding on a sac-fly.
Bethel answered with a run of their own in the second, but Blue Mountain shot back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning, thanks to a sac-fly from Ty Roberson and an RBI single by Redding.
The Wildcats had a big fourth and fifth inning, plating five runs, capped by a pair of RBI singles.
Three more crossed for Bethel in the top of the sixth, making it 10-3 Wildcats.
The Toppers would get back on the board in the bottom of the seventh, as
Jacob Mobley scored on a passed by and
Jack Hearn had a sac-fly to score
Josiah Rivera.
The Wildcats would get one more for good measure in the top of the ninth to secure the win.
Redding would lead BMCU with three hits, an RBI and a run scored while
Carson Gault had a pair of hits including a double.
Jackson Cook (1-1) suffered the loss on the bump for BMCU, tossing an inning, giving up two earned runs on two hits with a K.
Jabari Farr started the game for the Toppers, tossing two innings of no-hit ball, giving up a run.
BMCU (10-8, 3-3) next welcomes Brewton-Parker to Topper Town Friday and Saturday in a three-game SSAC series.
