BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – It was a tough day at the pitch for Blue Mountain Christian Women, as No. 3 William Carey blew through town and took a 17-0 victory in SSAC play.
Carey's Christina Salmon pulled off the rare glut, scoring five goals, while Virginia Mesa nabbed a hat trick.
Three other Carey players notched braces, as Karen Vilau, Alyssia Davis and Kristina Decker all had two goals apiece.
Sophie Young and
Caitlyn Fox split times between the posts, with Young getting three saves and Fox credited for eight.
The Carey defense would prevent the Lady Toppers from getting a shot off in the match, while they would get off 57 shots with 29 shots on goal.
BMCU (0-3, 0-2 SSAC) returns to action Thursday, Sept. 26 against SSAC newcomer Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga. at 5 p.m.
