Box Score Lebanon, Tenn.- The Toppers opened their season Saturday afternoon against Cumberland University.
The Phoenix found momentum in the match quickly scoring three goals in the first half.
George Caudwell scored a goal for the Toppers off a ball that ricocheted off a defender and out of reach of the keeper's hands.
The Phoenix were able to rattle off two more goals before the final buzzer in the second half making the final five to one. 
Head Coach Azira stated, "Although we did not get the win today, we believe we can learn from this defeat and improve as the season goes along."
The BMCU men's soccer team will be back in action next Friday at home versus Georgetown College.
