BMCU Baseball’s Townsend named NAIA All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Blue Mountain Christian Baseball's Arderrius Townsend, better known as "Peeko", has been named the program's first-ever First-Team All-American, the NAIA announced today.
Townsend spent most of the season torturing opposing pitchers, as he batted .353 with 25 home runs and 80 RBI, leading the Toppers to their first NAIA postseason opening round in history while also being named the Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Player of the Year.
His position on the list comes as a designated hitter, alongside 16 other players from across the nation on the prestigious team.
"Peeko had one of the best seasons a hitter could have in the NAIA," BMCU head coach Taylor Clark said.  "He's a dedicated young man who loves and appreciates the game, and we are so proud of him."
Townsend becomes one of only three BMCU student-athletes in history to be named First-Team All-America in the NAIA.  He joins BMCU Women's Basketball star Cyndi Barnes who earned the spot in 1991 and Bernardo Tajada of BMCU Men's Tennis who was honored in 2021.
