Stillman takes SSAC series from Toppers

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 2 – Blue Mountain Christian and Stillman met here Saturday to decide the three-game SSAC series between the two teams.
The Tigers would stun the Toppers and get a 7-5 victory in the seven-inning affair.
Blue Mountain hit the board first in the first when Tyrese Roberson scored on a Stillman error.
Stillman answered with a run in the third on an RBI double by Tre'en Dorsett to tie it at 1-1.
The Tigers took a 3-1 lead against Topper starter Austin Garrison in the fourth, but BMCU answered with two of their own in the bottom half on consecutive sac-flies by Carson Gault and Josiah Rivera to tie it a 3-3.
Both teams scored in the fifth with Blue Mountain getting a run on a tiger error, making it 4-4.
Blue Mountain went ahead in the sixth when Gavin Coles ground out to single in a run, but Stillman answered with three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 7-5 lead, capped by dual RBI singles by Kobe Lewis and Sieas Elliot.
The Toppers would try and rally in the final inning, but Stillman's Dylan Speakman would come on for the save to close the doors.
Gault led the way with two hits for the Toppers, while Jackson Siler (2-1) suffered the loss in relief tossing 2.1 innings, giving up three runs on four hits with three Ks.
 
GAME 3
Game 3 saw Stillman win another by a score of 6-2, giving them the series 2-1.
Blue Mountain would take 2-0 lead in the third with Matthew Koch on the hill, getting an RBI single from Austin Garrison who later came around to score on a wild pitch.
Koch was shutting down the Tiger offense until the sixth when they would get three runs, capped by a pair of RBI singles and a sac fly to make it 3-2 Tigers.
Stillman would get two more in the second on a Topper error, taking a 5-2 lead.
The Tigers would tack on one more in the sixth, with Dylan Speakman singling in a run to make it 6-2 and giving Stillman the series.
The Toppers could never get the bats going against Griff Minor, as the Stillman lefty tossed a complete game, allowing two runs on just five hits with four Ks.
Koch (3-4) suffered the loss, tossing seven innings, giving up three earned runs on nine hits with four Ks.
Garrison and Josiah Rivera both had two hits in the loss for Blue Mountain.
BMCU (24-14, 9-11 SSAC) returns to action Tuesday in non-conference action against Bethel (Tenn.) at 3 p.m. CT McKenzie, Tenn.
