Softball drops SSAC doubleheader to undefeated Stillman

CORINTH, Miss. – GAME 1 - What was supposed to be Blue Mountain Christian's home SSAC doubleheader opener this season, turned into a dual tilt against unbeaten Stillman in Corinth, Miss. due to wet field conditions in Blue Mountain.
Stillman would get a hard-fought win over the Toppers in the opener, winning 6-2.
The game was scoreless for the first three innings, as BMCU's Madison Montgomery and Stillman's Lexi McCray battled in the pitching circle.
The Tigers would finally break through in the fourth with four runs, highlighted by a two-run single by Lauren Haskins.
The Toppers answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Mallory Jo Mitchell and a score from Mitchell on a Stillman error.
The Tigers would get two more runs with a run scored on an error in the seventh, as the Toppers couldn't manage any more against McCray.
Montgomery (4-3) suffered the pitching loss, tossing 6.2 innings, giving up three earned runs on just four hits with two Ks.
McCray earned her sixth win of the season for Stillman, tossing a complete game, giving up one run on eight hits with one K.
Julianna Ingram, Skylar Lee and Lillie Johnson all had two hits apiece in the loss for BMCU.

GAME 2
Stillman would rally in the sixth inning of Game 2 to sweep the two-game series, winning 3-2 and moving to 18-0 on the season.
Blue Mountain struck first in the backend game, as Iris Farve would rope a two-run single to right against Stillman's Faith Byram to give the Toppers a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third, chasing her from the game.
That would be all the Toppers could come up with offensively, as the Tigers would score a run in the fourth on an RBI single by Karlie Davidson and a two-run single by Anniston Jones, securing the Tigers' perfect 18-0 record.
Weaver (1-6) pitched well for BMCU, but would suffer the loss, giving up three earned runs on eight hits with three Ks.
Elisabeth Boso would get the win for Stillman, throwing 4.1 innings in relief, surrendering no runs and four hits with five Ks.
Farve led the Toppers at the plate with three hits and two RBI in the loss.
BMCU (7-12, 0-6) returns to action Tuesday against Dillard University in New Orleans, La. in a doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. CT in non-conference play.
