Point takes SSAC series from Blue Mountain

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – GAME 3 – Blue Mountain Christian and (RV) Point met here for Game 3 Sunday of their SSAC series, with the Skyhawks getting the victory 9-4.
Blue Mountain broke the ice in the bottom of the second when Carson Gault roped an RBI single to right to give BMCU a 1-0 lead.
Matthew Koch returned to the mound in Game 3 for the start, just a day later from his two innings of winning relief in Game 2.
Koch dominated the Skyhawk batters for four innings but ran into fatigue in the fifth.
The Skyhawks would load the bases against Koch, and later score two in the inning off a sac fly and an infield single against reliever Jackson Siler.
Gault struck again in the sixth, hitting a frozen rope to left center for an RBI double.
Point would get four in the seventh, as Rey Castaneda entered on the bump for Blue Mountain.  A two-run single by Daniel Gonzalez, an RBI single by Hunter Neumayer and a Topper error gave Point a 7-2 lead.
The Toppers would get two back in the bottom of the seventh when Tyrese Roberson scored on a Point error and Gavin Coles scored on a wild pitch.
The Skyhawks would seal the game in the eighth with two more runs on an RBI single by Silas Butler and a sac fly from Mason Davis.
Koch (2-2) suffered the loss, giving up two runs on just one hit with a K.
Gault led the Toppers at the plate with two hits and two RBI, while Peeko Townsend and Hayden Redding had two stolen bases each.  Roberson also had two hits and Redding scored twice for BMCU.
BMCU (19-7, 6-6 SSAC) returns to action Tuesday against Oakwood in Huntsville, Ala. in a single nine-inning game set for 3 p.m. CT.
