BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Blue Mountain Christian punished visiting Oakwood Wednesday afternoon at the BMCU Sportsplex, easily defeating the Ambassadors 15-1 behind three home runs including a grand slam from
Hayden Arant.
The Toppers would plate five runs in the second highlighted by solo homers from
Carson Gault and
Chris Smith.
Hayden Redding would also have an RBI single in the second and
Will Crawford hit a sac fly to right for an RBI.
In the fourth, Blue Mountain plated four more on RBI singles from Redding and Crawford, followed by RBI doubles from Smith and
Arderrius Townsend.
The fifth inning was a massacre, as Arant jumped all over a pitch to left for a grand slam that gave Blue Mountain a 15-0 lead that would eventually finish off Oakwood and initiate the mercy rule in the seventh inning.
Hunter Pierson,
Peyton Smith and
Jackson Cook would all get work out of the bullpen for the Toppers to shut the doors on the Ambassadors.
Redding would finish with three hits, three runs and two RBI, while Crawford had two hits three RBI and two runs scored.
Gault's homer was his fourth of the season, while Arant hit his second and Smith clubbed his first.
Smith finished with two hits and two RBI and Gault had two hits in the victory for BMCU.
Jesse Hancock (3-0) picked up the pitching win in the victory, tossing two-innings of one-hit ball with no runs and three Ks.
BMCU (11-3, 1-2 SSAC) returns to SSAC play March 1-2 in a three-game series against Loyola in Blue Mountain.
