BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Blue Mountain Christian men roughed up Thomas University Saturday in SSAC play, easily winning 78-60.
The outcome was never really in doubt, as Blue Mountain would take a 38-15 lead at the half.
Manny Patrick and
Keevin Etienne provided most of the damage for Blue Mountain, with both men recording double-doubles.
Patrick would finish with 22 points and 13 rebounds, and Etienne would have 12 points and 17 rebounds. It was Etienne's seventh double-double of the season.
The Toppers shot lights out at 41 percent on the day, as
Vincent Douglas had 12 points with four threes, while
Jalen Boyd-Savage also chipped in 12 points.
Darien Newchurch would also hit double figures in scoring with 10 points.
Blue Mountain would go 10-for-26 from behind the three-point arc and dominate the boards by outrebounding Thomas 44-34.
The game got out of hand for Thomas in the second when Blue Mountain took a 29-point lead at 19:17.
BMCU (10-14, 4-12 SSAC) is currently neck-and-neck with Brewton-Parker in the SSAC standing with four conference games left on the schedule for Blue Mountain. The Toppers will travel to New Orleans, La. Thursday to play Loyola with tip set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
