MOBILE, Ala. – Blue Mountain and No. 20 Mobile met for the second time this season Thursday, with the Rams getting the edge 72-65.
The Toppers defeated the Rams in December when they were ranked 16
th in the nation, holding Mobile star Ezra McKenna to just eight points.
McKenna wouldn't be contained tonight, as he would record a double-double of 27 points and 14 rebounds.
Blue Mountain would see four players hit double figures in scoring, with Mobile native
Manny Patrick leading his team with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Keevin Etienne was just a rebound away from completing his seventh double-double of the season, finishing with 15 points and nine boards.
Vincent Douglas would chip in 12 points in the loss for Blue Mountain and
Darien Newchurch added 10.
Blue Mountain had several chances in the second half to pull close, grabbing several offensive rebounds, but McKenna and company would hit big shots down the stretch.
Joshua Williams would join in the double-figure scoring for Mobile, putting up 17 while DaMariee Jones chipped in 14.
The Toppers would outrebound the Rams 37 to 35, but the Rams would go on to shoot 54 percent from the field.
BMCU (8-13, 2-11 SSAC) finds itself on a six-game skid heading to Montgomery, Ala. Saturday to take on Faulkner University in SSAC action at 2 p.m. CT.
