Blue Mountain, Miss.- The eighteen ranked Rams narrowly escaped BMCU in a victory on Thursday night.
In the first half, both teams could not find a rhythm shooting the ball and had costly turnovers, but the Toppers kept battling on defense to keep to a two-point deficit going into the second half.
Jason Hunt scored ten points in the first half, and
Vincent Douglas scored six points to go along with Hunt.
Contradictory to the first half, both teams shot the ball well in the second half.
Ray Witt Jr. and Hunt were able to score ten points apiece. Witt Jr. got hot in the late second half to keep the Toppers in a tight ball game with the Rams.
Moye, for Mobile, hit two clutch threes to keep them out in front of the Toppers in the final minutes of the game.
Costly turnovers in the final minute of the game allowed the Rams to escape Blue Mountain with a conference victory.
Hunt was the leading scorer for the Toppers with twenty points and had two steals defensively to go along with his offensive performance.
Witt Jr. snatched eight rebounds and scored twelve points for BMCU in the defeat.
Vincent was two points shy of a double-double performance as he grabbed eleven rebounds in the game.
The Toppers will look to get a victory this Saturday as the host Cumberland University at 2:00 pm CT.
