CONWAY, Ark. – Blue Mountain Christian Women dropped Central Baptist for the second time this season, with this time being on the road by a score of 60-39.
In the first quarter, BMCU's
Kathryn Echols drained a three with less than three minutes to go, but the Lady Toppers found themselves down 10-7.
Blue Mountain started to turn the tide in the second quarter, as
Lindsey Murr hit a three and a pair of free throws, and
Charnita Brooks had a pair of goals to give the Lady Toppers a 22-16 lead at the break.
BMCU widened its lead in the third, as Echols hit another three and her teammates found some easy baskets under the goal to make it 39-29.
The fourth was all Blue Mountain, as
Maddie Kirk went on a scoring spree, hitting a pair of threes to finish off the Mustangs.
Kirk finished with a game-high 16 points with six rebounds, while Echols had 11 including 3-of-5 from deep.
Blue Mountain continues to spread the wealth offensively, as 11 Lady Toppers scored in the victory, with 29 points coming from the bench.
Tenyzia Lathan would have three blocked shots in the game, while
Mackenzie Williams swatted two.
The BMCU defense was on point, holding the Mustangs to just 29 percent shooting from the floor, and just 1-of-21 from three-point territory.
BMCU (7-3, 2-2 SSAC) continues its hot start to the season, with the next matchup coming in SSAC play against Mobile December 5 in Blue Mountain at 5:30 p.m.
