Lady Toppers Lose Close Battle Versus RV Freed-Hardeman

Box Score Blue Mountain, Miss.- BMCU played a hard-fought game versus a Freed-Hardeman team that came into the game receiving votes nationally.
This game was full of excitement as both teams were scorching hot from the three-point line as the Lions shot forty-seven percent and the lady Toppers shot fifty-six percent.
The lady Toppers went five of six from the three in the second quarter alone. Making it just a three-point game going into half time.
Fouls became issue for BMCU down the stretch allowing the Lions to get to the free throw line where they shot over ninety-two percent as a team.
Second chance points were clutch for the lady Toppers down the stretch. They scored seventeen points off those second chances.
Turnovers were not an issue throughout the game for BMCU until late in the second half.
A leader and veteran on BMCU, Crystin Guy, led the team in points with seventeen. Guy had five steals as well.
The sophomore, Dominique Collins, brought a lot of momentum off the bench for the lady Toppers as she went three for four from deep and had 14 total points.
Rebecca Walter led the team in rebounds with eight.
Down the stretch Lindsey Murr had three clutch three-point shots to keep hopes alive for BMCU.
Another veteran and leader, Charnita Brooks, had eleven points in the game and was perfect from the charity stripe.
Although the lady Toppers could not pull out a win against Freed-Hardeman, there is no doubt that this team can compete with anybody.
Head Coach Tracy Rice had this to say about the team's performance, "I was proud of the way our ladies kept showing up no matter what way the momentum was swaying in the game. This team showed a lot of fight today, and I am excited to see how we progress moving forward."
BMCU will be back in action next Tuesday in Tyler Gymnasium at 5:00 pm against Central Baptist.
