BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Blue Mountain Christian Women continued its trend of playing NCAA programs here Saturday, hosting NCAA DIII Birmingham-Southern.
The Panthers would outlast the Toppers, winning 2-1, as Blue Mountain was without top player Elsa Pelicant due to injury.
Blue Mountain would grab a 1-0 lead at the 8:26 mark of the first, when Madison Zamudio found the net from a few feet out off an assist from Adrianna Parsons.
The Panthers answered before the break with an unassisted goal from Ali Shroeder from 20 yards out to make it 1-1 at the half.
Birmingham-Southern struck again out of the break on a goal from Montse Jasso off an assist from the corner by Schroeder to put the Toppers down 2-1.
Blue Mountain would threaten late in the game on shots from Annabel Trauschke and Larisa Mercado but wouldn't be able to find the net.
BMCU (1-3-1) returns to action next Saturday as they host Williams Baptist in non-conference action with start time set for 1 p.m. CT.
