MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Blue Mountain Christian won Saturday against outmatched Southeastern Baptist (Miss.) 95-61 at the Chick-Fil-A Classic hosted by Bethel University.
The Toppers were scorching from the floor, shooting over 53 percent in the victory as
Ty Pickron led the charge with 14 points.
Jalen-Boyd Savage also had his second straight game in double figures, putting up 13 and
Manny Patrick chipped in 11 with six rebounds.
Darien Newchurch would also hit double figures in scoring, dropping 10 for the Toppers. Patrick would also have three steals, giving him a total of seven in the two-day event.
"We shot the ball a lot better today and executed well," BMCU head coach
Jermael Bingham said. "We got after them on defense and forced several turnovers. We had a good game today and hopefully we can build off it."
The game was never in doubt as the Toppers led buzzer to buzzer, including 26 points in the paint.
The Toppers forced 21 turnovers from SBC and collected 21 points off them.
A 6-0 run in the first and several 6-0 runs in the second would ensure the Toppers would go home with the victory.
BMCU (3-2) returns to action Monday as they travel back to McKenzie to take on Bethel with tip set for noon CT.
