Montgomery, Ala. – Blue Mountain Christian's Alex Nordstrom has been named the SSAC Men's Golfer of the Week following an outstanding performance to open the Toppers' fall season.
Nordstrom captured the individual title at the Coastal Georgia Fall Invite at Sea Palms Golf Resort in St. Simons Island, Georgia, finishing the three-round tournament at 12-under par.
The BMCU standout carded a 199 (70-65-64) on the par-71 course, improving his score in each round. 
After opening with a one-under 70, Nordstrom fired a six-under 65 in the second round before closing the tournament with a seven-under 64.
His performance helped lead No. 16 BMCU to a runner-up finish in the 15-team field. 
"Alex was outstanding all week," BMCU head coach Kevin Barefield said. "He stayed patient, trusted his game and continued to get better as the tournament went along. Shooting 65 and 64 in the final two rounds is impressive golf, and I'm proud of the way he competed and helped put our team in a position to have a strong finish."
Nordstrom's individual championship highlighted a strong season-opening tournament for the Toppers, who placed three golfers inside the top seven individually.
The weekly honor comes after Nordstrom entered the fall as one of BMCU's returning leaders following an All-American campaign last season.
