Kansas City, MO. - Blue Mountain Christian University Men's Golf standouts
Cobey Riddle and
Alex Nordstrom have both been awarded NAIA Second-Team All-American honors following phenomenal sophomore campaigns for the Toppers.
Riddle and Nordstrom played major roles in helping BMCU remain nationally ranked inside the Top 15 throughout the season while also helping lead the Toppers to another successful year on the course.
Both golfers finished the season ranked among the top 25 individual players in the NAIA according to Clippd rankings, with Nordstrom finishing 22nd nationally and Riddle close behind at 24th.
Riddle opened his sophomore season with a tournament victory at the Coastal Georgia Men's Fall Invitational and continued to perform consistently throughout the year. He finished the season with four top-10 finishes and showcased his talent on one of the biggest stages in collegiate golf during the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship. Competing against the top golfers in the nation, Riddle earned a 15th-place individual finish at the national championship tournament.
Nordstrom also delivered an outstanding sophomore season, recording seven top-10 finishes throughout the year. His best performance came at the Carey Collegiate, where he finished seven strokes under par for the tournament. During the event, Nordstrom fired a historic third-round score of 65 on a par-71 course, setting a new BMCU program record.
"As a coach, moments like this are incredibly rewarding because you know the journey behind it," said Head Coach
Kevin Barefield. "Alex and Cobey have worked tirelessly to put themselves in this position, and I'm just really proud of them. They competed at a very high level all year, but more importantly, they led our team with consistency, humility, and heart. To earn NAIA Second-Team All-American honors at this level says a lot about who they are and the season they put together. They are both incredibly deserving of this recognition."
