Riddle Advances in NAIA National Championship

No. 12 BMCU Men’s Golf concludes historic season at NAIA National Championship, Riddle advances individually

Silvis, IL. - The No. 12 Blue Mountain Christian men's golf team saw its historic 2025-26 season come to an end on Wednesday at the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship at TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
The Toppers narrowly missed the tournament cut line after two rounds of play, while sophomore Cobey Riddle continues individually after finishing the opening two rounds tied for fourth overall.
Riddle put together another strong performance in round two with a score of 71 after opening the tournament with a round of 70 on Tuesday.
Playing on the par-70 course, Riddle sits at three-under par through two rounds and remains firmly in contention entering round three.
Late in his second round, Riddle gained momentum by playing holes 15 through 17 all at one-under par.
While the team portion of the season officially comes to a close, the national championship appearance capped one of the most remarkable years in Blue Mountain Christian men's golf history.
The Toppers established themselves nationally from the beginning of the fall season and remained ranked inside the NAIA Top 15 throughout the entire year.
Blue Mountain Christian reached as high as No. 4 nationally in the first NAIA rating release of the season and consistently competed among the top programs in the country.
Riddle helped spark the year early after winning the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational in the opening tournament of the season for the Toppers.
Junior Alex Nordstrom also delivered one of the most consistent seasons in program history, finishing only one tournament outside of the top 10 individually during the regular season. Nordstrom currently remains ranked inside the top 15 golfers nationally on Clippd, while Riddle sits inside the top 25 overall.
Freshman Simon Meiby added a strong debut season for the Toppers, highlighted by a top-six individual finish during the year.
Acen Lambert recorded a pair of top-15 finishes during the season, while Damil Ataullah added several top-25 finishes to strengthen the Toppers lineup throughout the year.
Head Coach Kevin Barefield praised the growth and commitment of the team throughout the season.
"This team changed the standard for our program," said Barefield. "From the first event in the fall until nationals, they competed with confidence and represented Blue Mountain Christian the right way. I'm proud of every player on this roster because each one played a major role in the success we had this season. Cobey continuing individually is special, but it also reflects the work this entire team has put in throughout the year."
Riddle will continue competition tomorrow in round three of the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship in Silvis, Illinois.
