Mobile, Ala.- The Blue Mountain Christian women's tennis team secured a strong start to postseason play, defeating UT Southern 4-1 in the opening round of the SSAC Women's Tennis Championship.
The Toppers built early momentum in doubles play, capturing the crucial point with a pair of hard-fought victories.
Camila Mordiz and
Eugenia Ramos led the way with a 6-3 win, while
Kiersten Terris and
Nami Malyaporn followed with a gritty 6-4 victory to give Blue Mountain control of the match.
In singles, the Toppers continued to press their advantage with three decisive performances.
Lina Cetina earned a 6-1, 7-5 win, showing composure in a tighter second set.
Malyaporn delivered a dominant 6-4, 6-0 performance, and Ramos capped off the match in emphatic fashion with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep.
With the win, the Toppers advance to face the No. 1-seeded William Carey Crusaders tomorrow at 10 a.m.
