Toppers compete well at MC Spring Invite

Clinton, Miss.- The Blue Mountain Christian University track and field teams competed Saturday at the Mississippi College Spring Invite, with several Toppers turning in strong efforts across distance events and field competitions.
The men's distance group was highlighted by Jonah Barnhardt, who delivered the top performance of the day for Blue Mountain Christian in the men's 5000 meters. 
Barnhardt ran a time of 15:42.88, earning an eighth-place finish in a competitive field. Teammate Lukas Dykes also produced a solid run, placing 18th with a time of 16:30.22. 
Erick Flores crossed the line in 18:03.84 to finish 23rd, while JT Draper and Noah Harrington finished back-to-back with Draper placing 26th (18:44.61) and Harrington 27th (18:53.14).
On the women's side of the 5000 meters, Kaedyn Wilson paced the Toppers with a 12th-place finish, recording a time of 20:04.35. 
Ella Shepherd followed in 15th place with a time of 20:45.07, while Lauren Paul completed the Topper entries with an 18th-place finish after running 23:01.52.
Blue Mountain Christian also saw multiple athletes compete in the 1500 meters. 
In the men's race, JaKarien Perry led the Toppers with a 15th-place finish and a time of 4:26.50. Dykes followed closely in 16th place at 4:26.74, while Barnhardt added another strong showing with a 22nd-place finish in 4:30.28.
In the women's 1500 meters, Jorja Kate Mooneyhan paced the Toppers with a 20th-place finish and a time of 5:39.72. 
Ruthie Hutchinson finished 23rd, clocking 5:44.81, while Leah Montgomery crossed the line in 6:23.06 to place 26th.
Perry returned to the track in the men's 800 meters, where he placed 18th with a time of 2:05.87. Sammuel Hopper followed with a 20th-place finish, running 2:09.70.
In the women's 800 meters, Mooneyhan produced another strong performance, finishing ninth overall with a time of 2:37.73. 
Hutchinson placed 11th, recording a time of 2:44.53.
Blue Mountain Christian also competed in the field events. In the women's discus throw, Abby Laney placed 18th with a mark of 26.30 meters, while Shane Murphee represented the Toppers in the men's javelin throw, finishing 10th with a throw of 36.65 meters.
