Montgomery, Ala.- The Blue Mountain Christian University women's tennis team wrapped up play at the SSAC Roundup in Montgomery, Alabama on Saturday, falling 0-7 to No. 5 William Carey, one of the top teams in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches Poll.
Despite the final score, the Toppers faced a strong test against one of the nation's best programs and gained valuable experience against elite competition.
In doubles play, the pairing of
Camila Mordiz and
Eugenia Ramos competed on the No. 1 court, falling 1-6.
Lina Cetina and Lucia Garcia battled on the No. 2 court but were defeated 2-6.
Nami Malyaporn and
Kiersten Terris also fought hard in their match before falling 2-6.
In singles action, Mordiz faced a tough opponent on the top court, falling 0-6, 0-6. Cetina competed well in her match but came up short 2-6, 1-6.
Garcia fell 0-6, 0-6, while Malyaporn battled before dropping her match 3-6, 1-6. Ramos lost 0-6, 1-6, and Terris rounded out the lineup with a 0-6, 1-6 decision.
The match concludes competition for the Toppers at the SSAC Roundup as Blue Mountain continues conference play this season.
